So what is a silent disco party?

A silent disco is an event where people dance to three channels of different music listened to on wireless headphones. Rather than using a regular DJ speaker system, music is broadcast via radio transmitters to the wireless headphones worn by the user. Those without the headphones hear no music, just people humming or singing out loud, giving the effect of a room full of people merrily dancing to nothing but the sound of silence!

What are the advantages of hosting a silent disco party?

Silent discos events are very popular as they allow dancing where loud music could be a problem, as in a hotel or a marquee near neighbours, so hosting your own silent disco is the answer.

Ask anyone who has been to a silent disco and they will tell you it is one of the best experience. The listener gets totally immersed in the great music on one of the three channels available, plus the option to flick a switch to change the tunes.

Where did the idea come from?

It all started back in May of 2022 when my partner and I spent the weekend in Butlins, Bognor Regis.
it was an eighties themed weekend with many acts taking to the various stages including the Sunday afternoon with a silent disco. Not having experienced such a thing, I was was handed a headset by the team and soon became a silent disco dancer hearing great tunes on the two channels available. Two DJs were on the stage playing to our ears with soundtrack of our lives with requests being taken, so I promptly asked for a shout out for our friends Laura & David who were celebrating their first wedding anniversary. I told them to stay on the red channel as Jules the silent disco DJ will be on that one.
We ended up staying for the whole three hours having so much fun bopping about, and sometimes removing my headset to listen to the others singing along to the music completely out of tune!

With this happy memory, along with photos and videos of the fun we just had, I came home and immediatley invested into the silent disco kit aquiring over 100 headsets and 3 long range audio transmitters then launched this website South Coast Silent Discos.
